In a series of three studies led by Assistant Professor Diana Tamir, researchers explored how taking photos and videos for social media affects people’s enjoyment, engagement, and memory of those experiences.

In a new paper published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, the findings suggest that using media may prevent people from remembering the very events they are attempting to preserve.
