Please join us for a professional development panel on faculty positions in big research (R-1) universities. We will be hearing from current faculty member Dr. Rebecca Carey, former grad student Dr. Madalina Vlasceanu  (NYU) and current post-doc Dr. Ashley Jordan (University of Wisconsin-Madison, starting 2024).

The panel is meant to provide information about R-1 academic paths. Our panelists will talk about how to secure and prepare for faculty positions in R-1 institutions: What the application and interview process looks like; and how to know if a position could be a good fit for you. And once in faculty positions: What does life look like for professors? How can the reality be quite different from what we would expect in grad school? As always, the panel will be guided by attendees' questions, and we hope it can be useful to those of you considering a career in research-focused academia.
