RESEARCH SUMMARY

I am currently under contract for writing two books about the brain. I would be happy to work with students on various topics, in a non-laboratory setting.

The following types of questions exemplify my research interests:

-What are the signs of major neuropathologies (like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases) and psychopathologies (like clinical depression and schizophrenia) and what are the brain mechanisms underlying them.

-What are the brain mechanisms underlying sleep and waking states.

-What are the effects of drugs (both recreational and psychotherapeutic) and their mechanisms of action in the brain.

-How are various aspects of motor output, including those associated with fatigue, related to the activity of brain serotonergic neurons.

-Clinical depression.
